The end of the school year is packed — final projects, field days, classroom clean-outs. It’s easy to rush through those last few days and forget just how much they mean to our students. That’s why I always slow down for one special tradition: our End of Year Science Awards.
(And if you’re looking for an easy, meaningful way to celebrate every student? I’ve got you covered — keep reading!)
Why End-of-Year Science Awards Matter
For a lot of students, the award you hand them might be the only one they receive all year. Think about that for a second — an ordinary piece of paper could be the thing they hold onto, proudly show their family, and remember years later. I’ve seen this with my own children (one in particular, who was very proud of having the best attendance, and another who got most improved, they were beaming when they got home!)
End of Year Science Awards aren’t just about recognizing grades or “the top student.” They’re about celebrating all the little things: the enthusiastic student, the quiet student, the lab partner who has your back, curiosity, teamwork, positivity, wild ideas, even cringey science puns! Every student brings something special to the classroom, and this is your chance to show them you noticed, that they are seen.
An Award for Every Kind of Scientist
When I created my End of Year Science Awards resource, I made sure there was an award for everyone — not just the loudest or highest-scoring students.
Got a quiet kid who thinks deeply and surprises you with brilliant ideas? There’s an award for them.
A future astronaut who’s already dreaming of Mars? Covered.
A student who turns every experiment into a comedy show? Definitely covered.
There’s a certificate ready to make each student feel seen, valued, and celebrated.
What’s Inside the Resource
The End of Year Science Awards set comes with:
- A printable PDF (perfect for quick fill-ins)
- A fully editable Google Slides version (so you can personalize awards or email them home)
- 40+ unique award options based on science elements, real-world careers, scientists and student personalities
Whether you’re handing out awards in person, mailing them home, or hosting a virtual ceremony, this resource makes it simple and fun.
End of Year = Time to Celebrate All Wins
When you hand a student an award, you’re doing more than recognizing a moment — you’re creating a memory.
You’re telling them, “I see you. You matter. And what you brought to our classroom made a difference.”
That’s powerful stuff. And it’s the kind of thing they’ll remember way longer than their final test score.
So this year, when you’re wrapping up science class and wondering if you have time for one more thing, trust me — the five minutes it takes to hand out an End of Year Science Award will be worth it.
Let’s send our young scientists into summer feeling like rockstars. 🚀
