5th Grade Science Review (Without the Fuss)

If you’re looking for an easy and engaging way to help students revise their science knowledge, this 5th Grade NGSS Science Review Booklet is just what you’ve been looking for. It’s colourful, visual, and packed with clever ways to get kids thinking like scientists—without overwhelming them (or you).

What Is It?

This science review booklet covers all the key 5th-grade science standards in a comic-style format that’s really student-friendly. Each topic comes in three versions:

  • ✅ A completed version—handy for students who were absent or just need a clear example.
  • ✍️ A fill-in-the-blank version—great for checking understanding without it feeling like a test.
  • 🎯 A differentiated version—with extra support.

It works well for whole-class revision, small group work, homework, or warm-ups. You can use it in stations as well.

Why Students Like It

One of the stand-out features is the “Explain to an Alien” activity. It’s simple but effective: students have to explain a concept as if an alien has just landed and asked, “What’s this all about?” It helps them put ideas into their own words—and can lead to some very entertaining conversations!

As well as the Explain To An Alien comic panel each page also includes:

Fill-in-the-Blank: Students complete missing key terms in a structured sentence.

Draw & Explain: A hands-on way for students to visualize science concepts by drawing and labeling key ideas.

Predict the Next Step: A critical thinking activity where students predict what will happen next in a scientific scenario.

Cause & Effect: Students match actions to their outcomes, reinforcing how science works in everyday life.

Vocabulary Comic: A simple, visual way to introduce and reinforce key science vocabulary through pictures and captions.

Review Checklist: A final wrap-up of the big idea behind the standard.
