An understanding of atoms and molecules is fundamental to understanding science. Getting your students hooked on atoms and molecules (and the differences between them) early is crucial. But it’s not that easy and it’s a fairly dry topic to teach.
Here’s how I liven up this topic.
I’ve created comics that the students use as notes. I provide them with the text/notes and graphics; they write them in blank panels. I’ll also use a differentiated version with the text already written, and the students add the graphics. They can then put these into their interactive notebooks or science journals. Here’s a picture of my States of Matter comics.
My Atoms and Molecules MS-PS1-1 unit is jam-packed with rich, engaging activities that students love. It is easy to follow and fun to teach.
