Science Stations

 

  • Watch It – students watch a short video explaining the importance of detritus or the brown food chain and answer questions based on the video.

 

  • Identify It – students are shown a food web and they identify the producers, consumers and decomposers.

 

 

  • Illustrate It – here the students choose an ecosystem, identify a food chain from it and illustrate it.

 

 

  • Explain It – students are shown how energy is lost at each level in a food chain. They answer questions about the loss of energy and explain their reasoning.

 

 

  • Label It – At this station students look at how carbon is recycled in an ecosystem. They will label a diagram showing the stages (2 versions supplied).
