Your students are going to love these hands-on Conservation of Matter Activities! These activities are easy to follow and fun to use and teach with.
This lesson has been designed to align with the NGSS standard 5-PS1-2 “measure and graph quantities to provide evidence that regardless of the type of change that occurs when heating, cooling, or mixing substances, the total weight of matter is conserved”.

⭐ Conservation of Matter using Skittles – in this activity the students will measure and graph the weights of sorted and unsorted skittles.
⭐ Conservation of Matter using a Salt Water Solution – this activity build upon the Skittles activity. The students will dissolve salt into water and compare the weights before and after the reaction and graph their results
