Science Stations
- Watch It – What is Life? This video gives a wonderful introduction to this topic and is perfect as an engagement activity. This station will require a computer with internet access to view the video.
- Describe It – Cells Observation. This activity lends itself well to a science station. You can get them to describe all or some of the cells depending on time. 5 photos showing both unicellular and multicellular cells are included.
- Label It – Label the Microscope. A lovely activity for a station especially if there’s a real microscope on the station to compliment the activity.
- Illustrate It – For this station you can have the students draw either a prepared slide e.g. onion cells or you can use the included photo.
- Read It – Cellular Life. This is a 2 page newspaper on the history of cell theory.
MS-LS1-2 Parts of the cell and their functions

Science Stations
- Make It – At this station the students must put together the various parts of the digestive system. A completed version is included so that they can check their work.
- Read It – Here the students will read an account of the circulatory system and answer the questions on the cards.
- Match It – The students see a variety of human organs and body systems. The questions on the cards ask them to match the organ to another body system or to other organs closely associated with it. It’s designed to get them thinking.
- Describe It – The students will see a variety of tissue types and must closely observe them in order to answer the questions on the cards. This will test their powers of observation.
- Illustrate It – The students will draw a diagram of a nerve cell and muscle tissue (photo included). It’s a great way to show how two different systems connect and interact.

- Watch It – This is a great video that is sure to engage your students.
- Read It – at this station the students will read about the Corpse Flower. Be prepared for some of them to be grossed out.
- Research It – here the students use a computer/browser and navigate to a reliable news source where they learn about new research on how plants use scent patterns to guide bees towards nectar.
- Infer It [plant] – students read a sheet showing photos and descriptions of various plants. They must infer from the photos how the plant is adapted for successful reproduction.
- Infer It [animal] – student read a sheet showing photos and descriptions of various animals. They must infer from the photos how the animal is adapted for successful reproduction.
- Illustrate It – this station allows the students to use their imagination. They can either design a wind pollinated or animal pollinated plant. The students must justify their decisions.

- Visual Station – at this station the students will see various optical stimuli and answer questions in their student record sheets based on their observations.
- Auditory Station – at this station the students will go to a Youtube link to listen to auditory illusions and answer questions based on the clip.
- Reading Station – here the students will read a short account of how the brain sends and receives sensory messages and answer questions in their student record sheets.
- Identify Station – this station allows the students to explore and identify the functions of the various parts of the brain.
- Rapid Response Station – at this station the students will see how quickly they can respond to a stimulus. Their competitive spirit will show!
- Memorize – here the students are presented with 12 animals. They have 30s to try to memorize the position of each animal. They will need a timer (stopwatch or similar) for this station.
