  •  Stratigraphy
  • Law of Superposition
  • Law of Original Horizontality
  • Relative and Absolute Dating
  • The Fossil Record
  • Radiometric Dating 

 

 

Science Stations

  • Read It – here the students read about the famous Great Unconformity and recent advances in understanding it. They will answer questions on the text in the record sheet.
  • Calculate It – at this station the students will calculate the age of rock samples based on interpreting the radiometric data on the graph.
  • Graph It – the students are given data in tabular form showing the radioactive decay of U235. They must make a graph from the data.
  • Infer It – students are shown a sheet showing a cross section of earth. The questions on the sheet will ask them to make inferences from the picture.
  • Watch It – the students watch a short (2m) video showing how to date fossils using C14. They answer questions on the video.
  • Explain It – students look at and must explain how the supplied features are formed.
